| Journey's Children's Classes are designed to strengthen dancers physically and emotionally. Classes teach discipline, self esteem and teamwork in addition to specific dance curriculum. Classes include a hygiene and etiquette workshop from a specialist in the field. Classes build from week to week and students participate in a spectacular concert at the end of the session. Children have lots of fun in caring a structured environment. Dance Terminology is taught in all classes. Students will have a Pre & Post test and a progress report that will keep parents aware of their advancement. ...It Begins with a Single Step |
| Ballet 1-2 (ages 7-12) This class is for beginner dancers. Students will be introduced to beginning ballet steps, terminology and the basics of dance and performance . Class will consist of a basic barre warm- up, technique, choreography, stretch and cool down. Saturday Jazz/Hip Hop 1-2 (ages 7-14) This class is for beginner dancers. Students will learn basic jazz technique will be introduced to beginning ballet steps, terminology and the basics of dance and performance .Class will consist of a basic warm- up, technique, choreography, stretch and cool down. Saturday Teen Jazz Hip Hop (ages 12-16) This class is designed for beginning and intermediate dancers. Journey dance is a fusion of classical ballet technique with modern, jazz, and street hip hop flava. | Drama 101(ages 6-17) The whole ideal of this class is to learn the basic fundamentals of the Art of Acting. Included in this you will learn the aspects of the theater, which includes stage direction, costuming, character building, technical theater, directing and arts administration. This class is a introduction of what it takes to bring a production to life. Class Time- Sat 10:30-11:30 (age 5-6) Sat 11:30-12:30(age 7-12) |
| Instrument Lessons: Ages: 5-Adult This course will teach you to play the instrument of your choice and introduce you to music notation and music theory. I assume that you are beginning the course with no keyboard skills and that your playing will improve steadily throughout the term. I also assume that you initially know nothing about music notation. The music theory that you will learn will help you to understand music notation and the structure behind the music that you hear and play. It will help answer questions like; What notes sound good together and why? Class will begin with music theory. Questions will be answered about assignments in the workbooks and new material will be presented. During the remainder of each class, students will practice individually to receive feedback about their progress and to receive assignments to play for the following week. Voice Classes for Beginners: Ages: 10-17 This course is designed as an introduction to vocal technique, performance skills and vocal music repertoire. The information, skills and training covered in this class are intended to advance the vocal ability and experience students taking vocal music in the music program. Classes consist of private lessons, individual vocal instruction, music listening, lectures, demonstrations, discussions, learning activities, performances, practices, and examinations. Homework assignments may include vocal practice, worksheets, readings, and practice journal. Curriculum areas covered include vocal technique, performance practice, vocal literature, vocal anatomy, physiology and language diction. This class is great for drama students and aspiring singers. Intro to the World of Music for Beginners Ages: 3-10 This class will introduce to students the five basic elements of music: Rhythm, Harmony, Tone Color, Tempo, Tone/Pitch. Each element will be broken down into lesson and activities to create an understanding for music as a performing art. As part of the activities students will be able to create instruments such as hand drums for rhythm, and straw saxophones for help with tone and pitch. This class is great if you are interested in putting your child in beginning movement or instrument. Music Theory This class is designed as an introduction to music theory, ear training and sight reading. Topics and learning activities enhance the musicianship of Vocal Program students by providing a foundation of music fundamentals and developing aural skills. Lessons consist of lectures, demonstrations, discussions, learning activities and music performances. |
| Creative Movement (ages 2.5-5) This class is part of Journey Movement classes. It is designed to give younger students the basic fundamentals of movement and dance. This class incorporates song and props to enhance basic motor skills. This is ideal for a student’s first extracurricular activity. *students under 3 yrs must be potty trained **class is 30-45 min based on attention span of age group Saturday Pre-Ballet/Jazz (ages 4*-6) This class is designed for younger students that to learn basic ballet and jazz technique and choreography. Students will be introduced to fundamental ballet steps, terminology and the basics of dance. Class will consist of a basic barre warm- up, technique, choreography, stretch and cool down. This class is ideal for students that have started school and are used to structured activities. *4 yrs old must have already taken creative movement previously Saturdays Pre Tap (ages 5-7) This class teaches the basic fundamentals of tap. Students will be introduced to basic footwork and terminology and the basics of performance. Class will consist of a basic warm-up, technique, choreography., stretch and cool down. Saturday |
